The wait is finally over. Starcraft fans will finally see a new installment of the popular Starcraft 2 series. Just how long has it been? Starcraft was released by Blizzard Entertainment in March 1998. Starcraft quickly became one of the most popular RTS games ever. Battle.net still gets thousands of users from a game that is over 10 years old. Ok, to give you an idea of how long that really was…I looked at the back cover of Starcraft 2 cd-rom…yes, cd-rom…and the operating system requirements are Win 95/98/NT. A blast from the past…anyway…
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is all set to release in late July of this year. Many thought it would be held off till the holiday season, but apparently Blizzard thinks it’s ready! Amazon even jumped in with Blizzard by offering Beta codes to customers who pre-0rder a copy of Starcraft II.
Blizzard.net Upgrade
The new game will also benefit from a brand new launch of the online gaming site Battle.net. Read the press release and video preview here.
The Game
There are going to be two editions of the game released on July 27…The standard edition and the collector’s edition.
